Dirty Beaches, Minks, and Dum Dum Girls - Brighton Music Hall
Tonight at Brighton Music Hall is Dirty Beaches, Minks, and Dum Dum Girls. I am gonna try to attend. Here are songs by each artist until then. I will post a review and photos here.
Dirty Beaches
This is the band I had heard the least of. I was very surprised by the set. One guy with one guitar and some loops. It sounded just like early suicide and elvis mixed together. Definitely going to check out some more of his tunes.
Minks
This set was fantastic. The band really sounds great live. Very tight and much more forceful than on record. They played the blog hits early into the set, good idea to get the crowd into it. The show also seemed to double in size between minks and dirty beaches. Minks deffinitely are a band whose songs really come together live.
Dum Dum Girls
This band was absolutely fantastic. Full of that buzzsaw pop sound. The guitars were loud and noisy, the rhythm section tight and funky, and everyone wore similar black outfits. They played most of their first album, the new ep, a couple internet singles, and a great version of There is a Light that Never Goes Out by the Smiths. The blend of infectious girl pop and noisy indie rock really smashes live. Reminded me a lot of when I saw the Raveonettes last year at Coachella, I knew I was watching something special. Plus, Dee Dee's husband is in Crocodiles - one of the first bands interviewed here.
