DâM-FunK
I am sure anyone who is reading this blog knows all about the great DâM-FunK, but its always nice to periodically be reminded of greatness. I have been listening to him a lot today, something about rainy days I guess. Those silky smooth rhythms and funkiness have been helping me stay sane. Wish I had been able to see the Stonefeeder event when I was in Coachella, but oh well. Check out a couple choice tracks below and enjoy.

Africa Hitech
Africa Hitech are Steve Spacek and Mark Pritchard. They make glitchy, sputtering music that feels off kilter. It is awesome. Their songs have a very high energy, low fi, juke style to them. Kind of like if juke and dystopian future dubstep had a baby together. Their debut album 93 Million Miles is out 05/10/11 on warp. I am not sure if I have accurately describe what the music is accurately, but this stuff definitely will be banged all summer!

The Road Warrior Tour is Mary Anne Hobbs current US tour. Last night she, Lorn, Take, and Mike Slott all played the Paradise rock club. I don't think the Paradise was ready to meditate on bass weight.

Coachella: The Wrap Up
Over the past weekend I went to Coachella. As always its a fantastic experience. The crowds are fun, I get to hang with the fam, and the sound is great for a festival. This year the crowds seemed lighter - a combo of better site design and harder to sneak in. Over the course of the three days I saw lots of great music - mostly Saturday and Sunday, since I got a migraine on Friday.

Knxwledge
Pain by Knx.
Knxwledge is a a part of the All City Dublin crew with Mike Slott and Lunice. His beats have a nice blend of downtempo electronic music and hip hop. He mixes in some pretty great samples as well, so check the tunes. My mom just asked who Knxwledge was so you know he is good!

ST 2 Lettaz and DaVinci, "Get Her High" (Prod. by Lunice) by The FADER
Shit is totally crazy. ST2 Lettaz, from G-Side, and DaVinci, from the Yay, go over a Lunice track. Fader described it as Underwater rap, that is deffinitely not too far off. The pings at the end sound like submarine going down. I think it still sounds like space, something that HAL would put together after sippin'. Regardless deffinitely worth checking out.

The Parsons Red Heads Interview
The Parson Red Heads - "It Never Snows" LIVE [Mondays (in Spaceland) Vol. 6 - January 28th, 2008] by spacelandrecordings
The Parsons Red Head are a band based out of Portland, Or. They play a very compelling brand of indie x pop x folk music that is extremely joyful and pleasing. Their first record King Giraffe was unfortunately slept on despite being a consistent and pleasurable record. I can not wait to hear the new record. Their song Punctual as Usual is currently sound tracking a Blue Moon commercial. I spoke with Evan Way about the new record, the Blue Moon commercial, and LA vs Portland.
