Blondes are an electronic group from New York. They make cosmic kraut disco. I acutally have no idea if they would describe their music in any of those terms, but that is what I think of when I hear it. "Pleasure" is perpetually moving forward - kind of like a subway running express at night. They have new music coming out on RVNG Intl soon.

Craft Spells
I am late to the party on this one, but Craft Spells are one of my favorite new bands. Their indie bedroom/goth/dance/dream pop ( I promise, no more buzzwords) makes for a consistently compelling listen. They keep the drums high enough in the mix to give the songs a sense of movement and purpose instead of just drifting around the room. Some of the tracks have almost dance rhythm - kind of like Lindstrøm meets Beach Fossils (sorry couldn't help myself). You can definitely hear the influences here, but it is still a consistently great record. Craft Spells debut album, Idle Labor, was released last year on Captured Tracks. Highly recommended.

Walls
Walls is an ambient techno duo from London putting out music on the legendary Kompakt label. The blown out accoustics are quickly replaced by hushed breathes and quieter rhythms. I have been driving a lot and songs like this make for fantastic late night road music. The Into Our Midst 12'' came out today.

Roxy Music (Todd Terje Disco Dub)
Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music are releasing a number of remixes from a variety of artists ranging from Rug-n-Tug to AfroJack. Above is Todd Terje disco dub edit of the classic "Love is the Drug". There is also a Lindstrom remix of "Love is the Drug". This is an absolutely perfect pairing - Roxy Music invented the sexy dance music that guys like Terje and Lindstrøm have been perfecting. Where the original was a tight rock track, Terje has added the nice dubby, gummy bassline to get everything really swinging. Although its early - this will definitely be in the mix for best remix/edit of the year.

The War on Drugs
New music from the War on Drugs. "Don't Fear the Ghost" is the b side to Slave Ambient's "Come to the City". I am still amazed how much this band reminds me of Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead. I mean that in the best possible way. I listened to a lot of the War on Drugs when I was Europe - this is the sound of trains going across French landscapes.

John Talabot
I am not sure I can put into words how excited I am for John Talabot's debut album. The man is a god. Above is the first taste of the new album. "So will be now..." is a 6 minute slow burning dubby, psychedelic house monster. This is the sound of 4 AM cab rides from crazy clubs. First post of 2012!
