The War on Drugs

New music from the War on Drugs. "Don't Fear the Ghost" is the b side to Slave Ambient's "Come to the City". I am still amazed how much this band reminds me of Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead. I mean that in the best possible way. I listened to a lot of the War on Drugs when I was Europe - this is the sound of trains going across French landscapes.

Caveman

thankful // caveman by sexmusic

Caveman is a new band from NYC. They have recently been touring with the War on Drugs. The band has been described as "the best local band you haven't heard of yet". They have a nice dreamy, psychedelic sound - equal parts Beach House and Washed Out. "December 28th" starts off with a slow tropical vibe, almost reminds me of an old school barber shop sound. The song is extremely pleasant and has a relaxing end of the day feel to it. "Thankful" is slightly more muscular and energetic, but only slightly. The band has a great sound and if there is any justice they will blow up soon. Their debut album, CoCo Beware, is out tomorrow, 9/13, on Magic Man!

The War on Drugs

War On Drugs - Baby Missiles by guerrillaandchalk

Philly's own The War on Drugs have a new album coming out, Slave Ambient.  It is due August 16th on Secretly Canadian.  A little bummed that we have to wait so long for this new record, but if the first song is any indication it will be worth the wait.  The track, "Baby Missiles", has that classic Americana rock meets folk sound.  Kurt Vile plays guitar on two tracks!  This is deffinitely one of the more anticipate releases of the year.  Track list after the jump.
