Hooray for Earth @ Paradise June 13th

Hooray For Earth - No Love by goldestegg

Last night Hooray for Earth played the Paradise with Architecture in Helsinki.  The Bruins also played the Cannucks, so Architecture in Helsinki was skipped - side note: Game 7, Stanley Cup is there a better sporting event?  Anyway, Hooray for Earth rocked the stage for one quality set.

These guys have that great psychedelic pop sound that works well during warm months and road trips. Songs like "True Love" are the sort of songs that sound track memories. As great as the band's psychedelia styled pop is on record, it translates into mixed results live. I really want to say it all works, but some songs do not quite connect live. They are pleasant, but just don't quite have it. Having said that, when a song connects - it fucking connects. When they played "True Love" the entire crowd was moving as one funky group. "True Love" just exploded live being propelled forward by drums that took everything out in front of it.  It was a great moment.  Similarly, "No Love" was a monster song that really got the crowd into it.  This makes me hopeful about the band, there were four or five songs that really connected and got the whole crowd moving.  I am very interested in seeing this band again in a couple months and seeing if they worked it all out.  Oh and congratulations on the marriage proposal.  Good luck and best wishes from Noise Verse Noise!
